KALEID Gallery is proud to present: Meditations by Leslie Ann Rice Bock. Each piece acts as a meditation on the time, location, and people that make up the firing celebration. This ongoing art project started in 2014, capturing my journey and joy learning the wood fire process at Spring Valley Anagama. Wheel thrown, altered, then wood fired, each piece is unique in its formation, its placement in the kiln, and the firing which is showcased upon the surface. The deposits of ash that turn to glaze, the pathway of the flame upon the surface serve as a reminder of the process and community built during the firing. Earlier this year, I had the privilege of engaging in a mentorship that reignited my passion for creating. It was during this time that I reconnected with the inspirations that shaped my early artistic journey, and to rediscover a process that flows naturally from within. Each piece in this collection is born from a meditative practice some refer to as “line art meditation” or “automatic drawing”. As I immerse myself in…

When I go out to shoot, Ifeel like a hunter, scanning for evocations of emotion – both good and bad. Theseimages fly in front of me, and I chase them; or they stay still and wait for me tocapture them. These photographs are delving deeply into my soul. I’m using theartwork to share my own perspective of reality, tangled up in a ball of beautiful art.Poetry. Pain. Pursuit. Delight. Always driving me forward in my art and in my life.Artist BioRobert…
